Breast cancer

One of the most common cancers in women. Treatment depends on molecular profile (ER/PR/HER2).

Subtypes

  1. Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) — 70–80%, originates from ducts.
  2. Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) — often bilateral.
  3. Triple-negative (TNBC) — does not express ER, PR or HER2.
  4. HER2-positive — responsive to HER2-targeted therapy.
  5. In situ disease (DCIS, LCIS) — does not invade surrounding tissue.

Roughly 2.3 million new cases worldwide annually. 5-year survival: localised ≈99%, regional metastases ≈86%, distant metastases ≈28%.
